Overview
Senior Building Surveyor based in Cardiff, serving the Western & Wales Region. Opportunity to progress within the growing Building Surveying Team within Real Estate Solutions. Our UK Building Surveying team delivers projects and survey programmes including building fabric and MEP services, specialising in multi-disciplinary design on refurbishment schemes, condition and asset surveys (Lifecycle, Technical Due Diligence, dilapidations, asset management and project delivery). We seek a candidate with proven experience working with multi-discipline teams in education/defence/commercial/light industrial environments. Building surveying experience is desirable. The candidate should be willing to support work winning and client management in private and public sectors over time.
Responsibilities
- Project delivery from RIBA Stage 1 to 7 relating to refurbishment and some new builds, with design experience and knowledge of building regulations and statutory approvals.
- Survey and Report Writing: conduct comprehensive surveys and produce clear, concise engineering reports for core Building Surveying services.
- Construction Monitoring: assist with construction monitoring and snagging to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
- Teamwork and Independence: work independently under broad direction while supporting team members to meet client demands.
- Professional Representation: represent the company professionally with clients, understanding requirements and ensuring service meets needs.
- Client Development: develop relationships with existing clients and have confidence to win new work.
- Continuous Improvement: contribute to continuous improvement of standards, processes, and knowledge.
- Communication: strong written and oral communication skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Software Proficiency: experience with tablet-based software (e.g., GoReport, Kyklcoud, MOBIESS).
- Time Management: manage time effectively to ensure timely reporting.
- Financial and Risk Management: handle financial, commercial, and risk management from project inception to completion on own projects.
- Flexibility: willingness to work away from office and potentially domestically and abroad.
- Security Clearance: eligible for DBS or other security clearance checks.
- Qualifications: ideally full RICS membership, with preference for relevant trade/pre-graduation experience.
- Industry Experience: experience in built environment sectors such as education, commercial, light industrial, public sector.
- Educational Qualifications: relevant qualifications such as Degree.
- Role Experience: prior Chartered-level experience is highly regarded.
