Job description

McLaughlin & Harvey are one of the leading Construction and Civil Engineering Contractors operating throughout the UK and Ireland.

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Building Services Manager to join the team.

This is an opportunity to support the regional growth of the building services team.

Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will be experienced in managing all aspects of the design, delivery, and commissioning of Building Services in a construction environment.
  • Experience in the pre-construction stage of projects to support work-winning, working with Tender and Preconstruction Teams to ensure client requirements are met and proposals reflect their needs and the contract.
  • Ensure all Building Services needs are met, reflected in the building and fabric, with information delivered in good time. Manage the Design, Drawings, and approvals process in line with the programme. Ensure projects comply with building regulations, planning conditions, specifications, and BREEAM. Support Planning teams to ensure building services are fully integrated into delivery and execution plans.
  • Establish and manage quality systems to meet standards and specifications. Support Site management and Health and Safety teams with review of method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Monitor progress against targets and assist the project management team with resource planning for specialist contractors.
  • Support Quantity Surveying and commercial teams with review of contract changes and valuations, ensuring changes are properly recorded and implications understood.
  • Manage the commissioning process and training to ensure all systems operate as designed, with design and validation teams' satisfaction, and building users trained in operation.
  • Attend and chair client progress, technical, specialist design, progress, and commissioning meetings.
  • Support the development of building services processes and procedures.
  • Engage with the wider senior leadership team to support business improvement processes.
  • Lead the recruitment, selection, and development of your team.
Qualifications
Essential
  • Technically qualified in a Mechanical or Electrical Trade with Contract Management Experience
  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering to HNC / HND level
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven management-level experience
Desirable
  • CIBSE Chartered Engineer
  • NEBOSH
  • 3D Revit/BIM

  • CSR Platinum (Site Managers)
  • IOSH Managing Safely in Construction

Experience

Extensive experience managing Building Services delivery in construction projects across various sectors including Defence, health, education, leisure, commercial, and industrial, preferably with a Main Contractor or MEP Contractor.

  • Experience leading a Building Services Team in a Main Contracting or MEP Sub-contracting environment.
