Job summary

SSEN Transmission, part of SSE plc, is recruiting a Senior Building Services (Mechanical) Project Engineer to support high-value projects across Scotland's electricity transmission network. You will lead mechanical design reviews and ensure delivery from development to handover.

Based from one of our Scottish locations, you will spend roughly 50% of your time in the office at Perth, Glasgow, Inverness or Aberdeen, with a competitive salary and broad benefits package including a car/allowance and

Qualifications

• Significant experience in mechanical building services engineering for complex projects.
• Knowledge of relevant standards and CDM regulations and their application.
• Ability to assess technical challenges and recommend solutions.
• Excellent communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
• Degree in Building Services Engineering; Chartered status is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, review and approval of mechanical building services designs and scopes.
• Provide technical assurance across project delivery, including commissioning and handover.
• Identify improvements, manage risks and adopt best practices.
• Mentor engineers and support capability development within the team.
• Collaborate with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to meet project requirements.

Job description

Base Location: For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office - Perth, Glasgow, Inverness or Aberdeen.

Salary: £59,800 - £89,800 depending on skills and experience + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role

SSEN TransmissionOnshore ACare currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Building Services (Mechanical) Project Engineer to support our growing portfolio of projectsthroughoutthe delivery of high profile, highvalueand technically complex projects on the Electricity Transmission network in Scotland. Projects range from operational depots, office spaces, training facilities to large substations and upgrades of existing substations.

The roleis responsible for supporting the core design teams throughinitialdevelopment and design, into delivery,commissioningand hand over to operations.

You will

• Lead the development, review and approval of mechanical building services designs, specifications and scopes of work across a range of infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical assurance throughout project delivery, validating designs and supporting construction, installation and commissioning activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering solutions, manage technical risks and implement innovative technologies and best practice.
• Support and mentor engineers within the wider team, sharing technical expertise and contributing to capability development.
• Work closely with consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering outcomes and ensure compliance with project requirements.

You have

• Significant experience in mechanical building services engineering, including the design, specification and delivery of complex construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of relevant engineering standards, legislation and regulations, including CDM and their practical application.
• The ability to assess technical challenges, evaluate engineering solutions and make informed recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
• A degree in Building Services Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Chartered Engineer status, or progress towards professional registration, would be advantageous.
