Overview

This role, based in Brighton & Hove, is for a Registered Building Inspector within our Building Control team. You will work in a diverse environment that prioritises health, safety and welfare for residents, workers and visitors, and contribute to delivering a city that it is proud to be.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Building Control team. In this role, you will manage a caseload of applications, respond to dangerous structures, enforcement and demolition matters – making a real impact on the safety and quality of the built environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Making professional judgements on the adequacy of building work and its compliance with regulations.
  • Responding to and resolving dangerous structures.
  • Determining and applying the most appropriate enforcement powers to address non-compliance.
  • Providing advice on relevant legislation and associated quality assurance systems.

As part of our team, you will help deliver a high-quality Building Control service in line with legislation and professional standards.

Additional information

Part office / part home – hybrid. We support flexibility and employee wellbeing in the way we work while delivering the best service for our customers. Working arrangements are designed to support work life balance and team collaboration. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team, and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
