Job summary

Creative Assembly's Total War Infrastructure Team is seeking a Senior Build Tools Engineer to drive improvements and help shape the architecture of our build systems, toolchain, CI and automated testing infrastructure that supports all Total War development teams.

This hybrid role in Horsham requires leadership, collaboration with engineers and QA, and the ability to balance hands-on coding in C++/C# with broad architectural thinking to improve deployment pipelines and developer productivity.

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing, operating and improving build systems, CI/CD pipelines or DevOps platforms at scale.
• Proficient programming in C++, plus C# or a similar scripting language.
• Deep debugging skills across large multi-component systems.
• Experience with console automation (PS5/Xbox).
• Experience with online store APIs (e.g. Steam/MS).
• Familiarity with Perforce or similar version control systems in large team environments.
• Knowledge of branching strategies in large multi-project environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence engineering leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive evolution of multi-project build pipelines, including pre- and post-submit workflows.
• Improve CI reliability, error detection, and logging standards.
• Develop deployment pipelines delivering builds to internal teams, QA and external platforms.
• Design, build and maintain backend services like build storage, symbol servers and dashboards.
• Write production-ready code in C++ and C#, ensuring quality and testability.
• Participate in rotating weekly support to triage build/test issues.
• Establish metrics and dashboards to surface issues and track improvements.
• Identify bottlenecks in hardware, storage, CI capacity and build roadmap.
• Collaborate with test automation to integrate quality gates in CI.
