Job summary

BakerHicks is seeking a Senior Engineer – Bridges to lead and deliver bridge design and assessment across highway and rail projects. You will design, analyse, and produce drawings, specifications and reports while mentoring Early Careers and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams.

The role emphasises client relations, quality assurance and compliance, with opportunities to manage small packages on larger schemes. A Chartered or Incorporated ICE/IStructE status is desirable.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Civil and/or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Extensive bridge engineering design, detailing and specification writing experience.
• Experience with bridge assessment to DMRB and/or Network Rail standards.
• Proven ability to deliver projects in highway and rail sectors.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Familiar with CDM Regulations, UK standards and Eurocodes.

Responsibilities

• Provide bridge engineering design and consultancy services under project leadership.
• Conduct bridge design, calculations and structural analysis.
• Produce deliverables including drawings, specs and technical reports; conduct site surveys and client liaison.
• Check calculations/drawings for quality and compliance; ensure alignment with project brief.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, buildable solutions.
• Assist in tender reviews, fee estimates and change control as required.
• Provide feedback on department performance from technical and operational perspectives.
• Review subcontractor calculations/drawings for design intent compliance.
