Job summary

BakerHicks is seeking an Engineer – Bridges to design and specify bridge engineering works across projects in the UK. The role supports progression toward ICE or IStructE chartership and involves delivering high-quality design outputs within multidisciplinary teams.

You will produce drawings, specifications and reports, check calculations, liaise with clients, and contribute to bids and tender activities while applying UK standards and Eurocodes.

Qualifications

• Strong design and detailing capabilities across bridge projects.
• Ability to mentor Early Careers staff and contribute to department development.
• Experience with British Standards and Eurocodes relevant to steel and reinforced concrete.

Responsibilities

• Design and specify bridge engineering works to standards and project briefs.
• Produce design deliverables like drawings, specs, reports and site surveys.
• Check calculations and drawings for quality and compliance.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, buildable solutions.
• Review subcontractor calculations for design intent and compliance.
• Represent BakerHicks in external project meetings.
