Senior Bookkeeper

Location: Bury St Edmunds (Hybrid) | 35 hours/week | Salary: £33,000 - £40,000

Cooper Lomaz is excited to collaborate with a reputable practice expanding in Bury St Edmunds. Due to growth, they are seeking a Senior Accountant/Bookkeeper to join their client management team. The firm specializes in the media and entertainment industry, serving a diverse and interesting client base.

In this role, you will be entrusted with managing your own portfolio of clients and working closely with partners.

Main duties:
  1. Manage a portfolio of 10-20 clients
  2. Ensure timely general bookkeeping
  3. Prepare monthly reports and management accounts
  4. Manage cash flow and forecasts
  5. Perform bank reconciliations
  6. Prepare and submit VAT returns; handle HMRC queries
  7. Manage purchase and sales ledgers
  8. Data entry using accounting software (Xero and QuickBooks Online)
  9. Credit control
  10. Liaise with clients and their representatives
  11. Provide training to junior staff
  12. Perform ad hoc tasks as required
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a practice environment
  • Knowledge of Xero (training provided if needed)
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Enthusiastic and adaptable in a busy department
  • Strong communication skills
  • Team player
  • Willing to travel to London office once or twice a month
