Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Blockchain Engineer for a leading FinTech client in Randburg, Gauteng. You will design, develop and deploy blockchain solutions, smart contracts and dApps, ensuring security and scalability across platforms such as Ethereum or similar.

You will mentor junior engineers, review code, collaborate with product and design teams, and stay current with DeFi trends, cryptography and cloud integration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development with 3+ years in blockchain.
• Proven experience building smart contracts and dApps on Ethereum or similar.
• Proficiency in Solidity and frameworks like Hardhat or Truffle.
• Strong knowledge of blockchain fundamentals, cryptography and DeFi basics.
• Backend experience with Node.js, Python or Go and databases.
• Familiarity with Web3 libraries (Web3.js, Ethers.js) and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy robust blockchain solutions including smart contracts and dApps.
• Implement and optimize core blockchain protocols and network infrastructure.
• Write clean, secure, efficient code in Solidity, Go, Rust, or Python.
• Collaborate with product managers to define technical requirements and translate to solutions.
• Conduct security audits, code reviews, and performance tests of blockchain components.
• Integrate blockchain with existing financial systems and third-party APIs.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices within the team.
• Develop and maintain documentation for blockchain systems.
