Job summary

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Biomedical Scientist for the Cellular Pathology department at York Hospital. Qualifications

• Minimum three years' experience as a BMS in a Cellular Pathology UKAS accredited laboratory.
• Registration with the HCPC.
• IBMS Specialist Diploma in related discipline.
• MSc or equivalent in a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team in the specimen reception and cut-up section to ensure efficient workflow.
• Perform audits relevant to the specialist area.
• Plan staff rosters.
• Communicate complex information to colleagues and service users within the Trust and wider networks.
• Report adverse incidents via DATIX and contribute to CAPAs in the quality management system.
• Develop and review documentation to meet UKAS ISO:15189 2022 standards for the specialist area.
• Lead in the development of new methods and implementation of new technologies.
• Ordering and stock management to ensure supplies and consumables.
• Perform team appraisals.
• Lead validation and verification of new equipment and procedures.
• Support departmental inspections, assessments, and accreditation activities.
• Deputising for the Chief BMS as required.
