Job summary

Checkout.com is hiring an ambitious Data Engineer to join our Data Platform Team in London. You will help build a world-class data platform powering our products and analytics, covering real-time streaming to analytical workloads using AWS/GCP tech.

You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to code reviews, and drive best practices across teams in a fast-paced, collaborative fintech environment with a hybrid working model.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering background with a track record of implementing and owning components of a data platform.
• Strong experience with Cloud data warehousing technologies, especially BigQuery optimisation and FinOps.
• Experience with modern cloud-based stacks such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Excellent SQL skills.
• Strong programming skills with Python, Java, Scala or C#.
• Mentor and collaborate to raise the bar for colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Build enablement components across the platform and monitor capabilities.
• Develop and maintain documentation for data systems and processes.
• Participate in code and design reviews and provide feedback.
• Automate workflows for a self-sustaining platform.
• Mentor junior team members and guide partner teams across applications.
• Promote data quality and governance as a first-class citizen of the platform.
