Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a Senior Bid Manager on a 12-month fixed-term contract for maternity cover, based in Luton with a hybrid working model. You will lead bid activities, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, and develop winning strategies to secure major opportunities.

The role includes cost and risk management, governance, and stakeholder engagement across the bid lifecycle. Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of complex bid management, a proven win record, and APMP Practitioner certification

Qualifications

• At least 3 years’ experience managing complex bids and proposals.
• Proven track record in winning business (ideally £20m+ values) through competitive processes.
• Experience managing multi-functional teams (Bid Management or Business Winning).
• APMP Practitioner certification (desirable).
• Ability to lead cross-functional, possibly geographically dispersed, teams.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong planning, organisation and time-management for bid milestones.

Responsibilities

• Lead competitive and non-competitive bids to successful conclusions.
• Develop win themes, narratives, and visuals for bid submissions.
• Coordinate bids with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across the lifecycle.
• Analyse customer requirements (PQQs, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, ITTs) into work packages.
• Collaborate with customers/partners to formulate bid strategies and drive teams to winning solutions.
• Support contract negotiations and implement changes to bid submissions.
