Job summary

Scrumconnect Consulting in London is seeking an experienced Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure server-side services and APIs, while advancing Agentic AI capabilities within our engineering platform. The role sits at SFIA Level 4, working under general direction with some autonomy and mentoring of junior engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
10-15 years' commercial backend development experience.
Proven experience delivering production-grade services in Agile/Scrum teams.
Exposure to integrating AI/LLM capabilities into production systems.
Good communication skills; able to explain technical trade-offs.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs.
Contribute to system architecture and data model design with senior engineers.
Write clean, well-tested code following TDD/BDD and team standards.
Participate in code reviews and provide feedback.
Integrate backend services with databases, messaging systems, and third-party APIs.
Build and operate agentic AI workflows and tool integrations.
Support CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure) for team services.
Diagnose production issues with monitoring, logging, and observability.
Document designs, APIs and agent workflows for engineers and stakeholders.
Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and product teams in an Agile/Scrum delivery model.
