Job summary

Taptap Send is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer in London to scale our Kotlin/Java services and data pipelines, supporting remittances across countries. You will own backend integrations, design scalable architectures, and collaborate with Product, Ops, and Support to deliver reliable features on AWS.

As an early team member, you’ll influence culture and processes, working across stack from Kotlin services to PostgreSQL databases, with Terraform/Ansible managed infrastructure and data-driven

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional backend experience.
• Proficiency with Kotlin or Java / JVM.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with AWS services (S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda).
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs.
• Experience in systems demanding performance and reliability.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Build out unified interfaces encapsulating dozens of third-party payment integrations.
• Take ownership of backend system architecture and implementation.
• Build performant and resilient data flows with security in mind.
• Collaborate with product to ship working features regularly.
• Work iteratively and provide timeline estimates.
• Evaluate and deliver realistic project timelines.
