Taptap Send is seeking a Senior Engineer to build and evolve our backend for cross-border remittances. You’ll join a fast-moving team, collaborating with Product, Operations and Customer Support to design secure, scalable systems that handle complex third‑party integrations and data flows.

The role emphasizes ownership of backend architecture, reliability, and performance, with opportunities to influence team culture and processes as we scale across countries and platforms.

Qualifications

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Engineer to join our growing engineering team, and build out our backend third party integration systems as we scale. For us, this isn’t just about technical performance, but also supporting the internal human processes that will always power much of our product. You will work closely with Product, Operations, Customer Support, Growth and other functions to design and build out a reliable, performant, and secure platform for handling remittances across countries. As an early member of the team, we hope you will also have a lot of impact on our team culture, processes and norms.

Taptap Send is a cross-platform mobile app developed with React Native and TypeScript, which talks to a backend service written in Kotlin and backed by a PostgreSQL database, all of which runs on AWS and is managed via Terraform and Ansible. This is a backend-focused role, but you will have plenty of opportunities to work across the stack to bring Taptap Send's industry-leading product to new countries..

Your Responsibilities:

• Build out unified interface encapsulating dozens of third party payment integrations

• Work on one of the pillar revenue centers of the organization

• Take ownership of backend system architecture and implementation

• Build performant and resilient data flows; keeping security in mind during every step

• Work closely with product team to regularly ship working features

• Work in an iterative fashion

• Evaluate and deliver timeline estimates

Requirements:

• 7+ years of professional experience building backend systems

• Proficiency with Kotlin or Java / JVM

• Proficiency with PostgreSQL

• Experience with AWS: S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda, etc.

• Experience implementing and managing elaborate integrations with third-party APIs

• Experience working on systems that have real-world performance and reliability constraints

• Experience developing software in a collaborative, multi‑functional, and fast‑paced environment

• Strong communication and ability to manage conflicting priorities, setting expectations with stakeholders and be a driving force

Ideally:

• Experience working with Infrastructure as Code technologies, like Terraform and Ansible

• Experience with SRE or similar infrastructure work

• Experience with Data Engineering concepts and workflows

• High personal code/development standards (code review, unit testing, documentation, etc.)
