Constructor.io is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the ML Infrastructure team. You will own core backend services powering model serving, data pipelines, and storage components at scale.

You will design and ship reliable, high-performance APIs and distributed systems, partnering with ML and product teams to reduce friction and accelerate experimentation across the platform. Remote-friendly environment with a strong emphasis on end-to-end ownership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering.
• Extensive Python knowledge (primary language).
• Hands-on experience with public clouds (AWS/GCP/Azure) or self-managed Kubernetes.
• Experience designing and building distributed, high-load services and APIs.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and trade-offs.
• Design-driven engineering mindset with focus on system design.
• Ownership and proactivity in solving problems and delivering outcomes.
• Friendly and collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate high-load distributed backend services powering ML infrastructure.
• Take end-to-end ownership of core ML services and related data pipelines, from design to deployment and observability.
• Partner with ML and product teams to translate needs into reliable, reusable platform capabilities.
• Make and defend technical decisions with a focus on architecture and trade-offs.
• Ensure responsible ownership and deliver reliable, scalable services.
