Wheely in London is seeking a backend engineer to build and scale Go-based services for our premium transport platform. You will implement microservices, ensure low latency, and collaborate with product, design, and data science teams to turn complex requirements into solid designs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable backend services.
• We use Go, but interview in strongest language such as Python, C++, Java, or Ruby.
• Strong engineering fundamentals are more important than syntax.
• In-depth knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go.
• Implement new microservices while helping us migrate away from legacy services.
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and data scientists to turn abstract requirements into concrete technical designs.
• Ensure our systems stay responsive under heavy load, optimising for both latency and reliability.
