Wheely in West London is hiring a Mid/Senior Backend Engineer to join our mapping-focused team. You will write Go code, build new microservices, and help migrate legacy services while keeping latency and reliability top of mind.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building scalable backend services.
• Go proficiency preferred; interview strongest language.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Hands-on mapping work (geospatial data, map-matching, routing) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go.
• Implement new microservices while migrating away from legacy services.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data scientists to translate requirements into designs.
• Ensure systems stay responsive under heavy load, optimizing for latency and reliability.
