Wheely in West London is seeking a Mid/Senior Backend Engineer to join a Go-centric team that balances supply and demand, optimising pricing and matching for chauffeurs and passengers. You’ll work on a Go stack with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and messaging systems, shipping clean, scalable code with TDD and CI/CD.

The role offers a four-day in-office pattern with one remote day, a salary range of £90,000–£120,000, and employee stock options.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience (5+ years for seniors) building and maintaining scalable backend services.
• We use Go; if you don’t know it, we’ll interview you in your strongest language.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and with message brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go.
• Implement new microservices while helping migrate away from legacy services.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data scientists to turn requirements into designs.
• Ensure our systems stay responsive under heavy load, optimizing latency and reliability.
