Job summary

Kpler is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to lead backend architecture and streaming services for maritime data. You will design scalable, high-availability systems using Python, PHP, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and ClickHouse to deliver real-time insights for global shipping and commodities markets.

You will own production reliability, drive cross-functional collaboration, and mentor engineers within the Maritime domain in a fast-paced, autonomous environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production backend experience.
• Proficiency in Python and PHP with PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Kafka and ClickHouse for real-time data.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes, and monitoring/tools.

Responsibilities

• Architect and scale backend services using Python and PHP.
• Build real-time streaming pipelines with Kafka and ClickHouse.
• Optimize PostgreSQL and ClickHouse for low-latency queries.
• Own production reliability, monitoring, and observability.
• Collaborate with Product, Tech Leads, Cloud teams, and clients.
• Mentor engineers and uphold engineering standards in Maritime domain.
