Job summary

Phorest is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. You will design, build and maintain scalable backend services powering thousands of salons and spas globally, using Java, RESTful APIs and modern cloud technologies such as Docker and Serverless.

You will work with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into robust, shippable features, while advocating code quality and maintainability.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend systems.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and systems.
Collaborate with engineers, product managers and designers to translate requirements into features.
Contribute to architectural discussions, focusing on performance and scalability.
Write clean, well-tested code following engineering best practices.
Build and improve RESTful APIs and integrations for the platform.
Own features from design to deployment and ongoing improvement.
Participate in code reviews and support the growth of other engineers.
Identify opportunities to improve systems and development processes.
Stay curious about emerging technologies and adopt useful tools.
