Job summary

Parser is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer in Welwyn Garden City (hybrid) to drive a next-generation customer fulfillment platform. You will design, build, and optimize high-performance microservices and distributed systems, applying event-driven architectures and latency management to achieve top throughput.

A strong emphasis on API development, testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with Java, Spring Boot and microservices design.
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Strong SQL/NoSQL knowledge (PostgreSQL, Couchbase).
• Cloud and container tech experience (Azure, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with CI/CD and Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and optimize high-performance microservices and distributed systems.
• Provide technical leadership on greenfield software initiatives.
• Apply asynchronous messaging and latency management to ensure high throughput and reliability.
• Develop and integrate APIs and microservices with enterprise platforms.
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues in real time to ensure operations.
• Leverage Agentic AI tools to improve developer workflows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align software with operational goals.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering excellence.
