Job summary

Wheely is hiring a Mid/Senior Backend Engineer in West London. You will build scalable backend services in Go, contribute to migrating away from legacy systems, and collaborate with product, design, and data science teams.

The role offers a hybrid work pattern with a four-day office week and one remote day, plus a competitive salary. Stack includes Go, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, RabbitMQ, gRPC, and Terraform on AWS with Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable backend services.
• Go experience is preferred; if not, we interview you in your strongest language.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases with messaging systems like RabbitMQ or Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go.
• Implement new microservices while migrating away from legacy services.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data scientists to turn requirements into technical designs.
• Ensure systems stay responsive under heavy load, optimizing latency and reliability.
