Job summary

Lightning AI is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build the backend systems powering its agent platform. You will work on orchestration frameworks, tool execution, and state management to enable production-grade AI applications.

You will collaborate across Core Platform, Training & Experimentation, Sandboxes, and Optimized Compute to deliver reliable, scalable software with strong developer experience.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building scalable backend systems using Go, Python, or Rust and APIs.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience operating production services at scale and building backend platforms for developers.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services that power AI agent orchestration and execution.
• Develop scalable APIs and platform capabilities for tool use, workflow orchestration, memory, and state management.
• Build reliable infrastructure enabling long-running, distributed AI workflows.
• Partner with product, research, and platform engineering teams to bring new agent capabilities into production.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, and performance as workloads scale.
• Evaluate and strengthen technical architecture, engineering processes, and developer tooling.
• Maintain high software quality through testing, automation, and CD.
• Mentor engineers on system design and backend best practices.
