Job summary

Gradient Labs seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to own critical infrastructure for autonomous AI agents in production. You’ll drive architecture from day one, ensure observability, and ship resilient systems at scale.

Qualifications

• Substantial tenure building production software at a fast-growing company or similar high-stakes environment.
• Proven experience owning complex, high-stakes systems end to end — not handing off at merge, but staying accountable through observability and scale.
• Deep fluency in Go and comfort operating across a modern backend stack (PostgreSQL, Temporal, GCP, Kubernetes).
• A product instinct that goes beyond technical elegance and puts the customer at the center of architectural decisions.
• Senior, Staff, or Principal level with real scope and accountability.
• Genuine excitement for autonomous AI as a platform shift and the infrastructure to make agents reliable.

Responsibilities

• Own systems from architecture through production, including scale and failure management.
• Design and ship resilient, observable backend services with strong reliability.
• Work across the backend stack to enable AI agent capabilities in production.
• Move quickly with disciplined iteration and a bias toward shipping.
