Job summary

Generative Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, AI Platform in London to design and build the foundational systems behind the company’s simulation and data-generation platform. This is a backend, systems and infrastructure-focused role, offering significant ownership in an early-stage, fast-moving environment.

You will architect and operate scalable APIs, backend services, data persistence layers and distributed workflows.

Qualifications

• Senior, Staff or Principal-level backend/platform/infrastructure experience.
• Ownership of complex production systems from problem to delivery.
• Strong system-design judgement including reliability and interfaces.
• Proficiency in a typed language (TypeScript/Node.js, Python, Go, Java, Kotlin).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and modern deployment practices.
• Startup or scale-up experience with pragmatic, low-ego approach.
• Experience with distributed systems and data-intensive workflows; Docker, Kubernetes or Terraform is advantageous.
• Ability to mentor engineers and collaborate in evolving environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and build foundational systems behind the platform (APIs, backend services, data persistence).
• Develop infrastructure for capturing, processing and managing experiential data; improve reliability, testing, monitoring and deployment.
• Turn ambitious requirements into robust production capabilities with clear ownership from concept to operation.
• Collaborate with AI and curriculum engineers to deliver production capabilities.
