Job summary

LEAP29 in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced software engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance desktop and cloud applications.

You will own solutions from architecture to deployment, work across C#/.NET and C++ codebases, and modernise legacy scientific software with modern frameworks and UI/UX.

The role emphasizes best practices, testing, CI/CD, collaboration with stakeholders, and exploration of AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production-grade software development experience.
• Strong C# and .NET experience.
• Strong C and/or C++ development experience.
• Experience building complex desktop applications in engineering/science/data-intensive environments.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, OO design, design patterns, SOLID.
• Experience with automated testing, Git, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Experience modernising legacy applications and improving UI/UX frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.
• Desirable: Scientific/engineering/geoscience/reservoir engineering/technical software development experience.
• Desirable: Experience with large scientific datasets and numerical algorithms.
• Desirable: Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and AI-powered testing tools.
