Job summary

Rackspace Technology in the United Kingdom seeks a Senior Azure Systems Engineer to build, operate and maintain enterprise-grade infrastructure on Microsoft Azure and hybrid-cloud environments.

You will bridge traditional systems administration with modern cloud operations, managing OS (Windows Server, Linux), identity and networking, and automation using PowerShell, ARM templates, and Azure Bicep. Location: UK (Cardiff / Hayes-Hyde Park Hayes). Full-time role with strong compensation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of systems engineering experience in Microsoft Azure.
• Deep knowledge of core server OS (Windows Server, Red Hat, Ubuntu) and advanced troubleshooting.
• Strong networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, load balancers, firewalls).
• Scripting in PowerShell or Python to automate tasks.
• Proven experience deploying Azure IaaS components (VMs, Managed Disks, VNets, Key Vault, Blob Storage).

Responsibilities

• Build and manage hybrid-cloud infrastructure linking on-premises systems to Azure using Azure Arc and ExpressRoute.
• Supervise OS deployment, configuration, licensing, and security patching for enterprise VMs.
• Manage identity and RBAC using Entra ID and AD topology synchronisation.
• Automate repetitive tasks with PowerShell, Azure CLI, ARM templates or Azure Bicep.
• Design and test backup and disaster recovery with Azure Backup and ASR.
• Monitor performance with Log Analytics and configure alerts in Azure Monitor.
