Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Senior Platform and Infrastructure Engineer to manage a large Azure estate, focusing on governance, automation, and reliable operations. The role requires hands-on expertise in Azure Landing Zone management, Terraform modules, and advanced PowerShell scripting.

You will work within a Platform and Infrastructure team, collaborating with architecture, security, and delivery, to deliver scalable Azure solutions and improve resilience across services for residents

Qualifications

Hands-on Azure platform experience in large, live estate.
Experience with Azure Landing Zone governance and security controls.
Strong automation skills for infrastructure using scripting and templates.

Responsibilities

Operate and improve Azure Landing Zone security, resilience and supportability.
Build/maintain Azure infrastructure using Terraform, PowerShell, and automation tooling.
Provide senior expertise on Azure networking (VNet, ExpressRoute, VPN, DNS, private connectivity).
Maintain governance (Management Groups, Azure Policy, RBAC, subscriptions).
Onboard services to platform patterns and support incident response and DR planning.
