Job summary

Datacareers is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to manage and secure a Microsoft Azure environment across multiple subscriptions. The role focuses on governance, automation, and onboarding services with close collaboration with application teams in a hybrid work setup (Home Based / Oxford or Southampton onsite 2-3 days a month).

The successful candidate will bring hands-on Azure experience, strong governance and security skills, and the ability to drive cloud-first delivery and resilient services

Qualifications

• Senior technical role focused on managing, securing and modernising a Microsoft Azure environment across multiple subscriptions.
• Strong hands-on Azure engineering experience with governance, security and automation.
• Experience onboarding services into Azure and working with application teams.
• Experience in disaster recovery, business continuity and service availability improvements.

Responsibilities

• Act as a senior technical specialist across Azure and Microsoft cloud services.
• Manage an Azure estate across multiple subscriptions and implement governance standards.
• Design, implement and support secure, scalable Azure cloud solutions.
• Design and administer Azure Resource Groups, RBAC, Azure Policies and management groups.
• Manage Azure networking including VNets, NSGs, DNS, app gateways, load balancing and VPN connectivity.
• Administer Azure Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts and Key Vault.
• Configure and improve Microsoft Entra ID, hybrid identity and Conditional Access policies.
• Work with application teams to onboard new services into Azure and provide technical guidance.
• Support the modernisation of legacy infrastructure into cloud-first services.
• Provide technical assurance, documentation and best practice guidance.
• Contribute to disaster recovery, business continuity and service availability improvements.
• Mentor and support other engineers, acting as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
