Job summary

iO Associates is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, build and deliver scalable, secure data solutions on AWS for clients in regulated environments. The role blends hands-on engineering with technical ownership, guiding other engineers and shaping engineering practices.

You will design data platforms, pipelines and data models, work with architects and security specialists, and ensure governance, security and observability across solutions.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Data Engineer with experience in complex enterprise environments.
• Experience delivering data solutions on AWS.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Terraform IaC experience.
• CI/CD for data workloads.
• SC clearance eligible.
• Public sector/defence experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and build of modern data platforms and data pipelines on AWS.
• Collaborate with architects, security specialists and client teams to translate requirements into robust, maintainable data solutions.
• Establish engineering standards and patterns; mentor other engineers.
• Develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data models.
• Ensure data security, governance and data quality throughout delivery.
• Engage with stakeholders to explain technical decisions and provide recommendations.
