Job summary

Matchtech is representing a major UK technology and engineering organisation recruiting a Principal AWS Cloud Engineer. You will define cloud strategy, architect secure AWS solutions, and lead engineering teams while delivering enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure.

In this hands-on leadership role, you will mentor engineers, shape architectural standards and governance, and drive best practices across multiple projects and regions.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, implementing and operating AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Strong IaC and configuration management expertise.
• Proficient in Python, Go, Java or Node.js.
• Experience leading large-scale technical initiatives across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect multi-region AWS environments aligned to long-term objectives and roadmaps.
• Write, test, and maintain production-grade IaC using Terraform and manage AWS Control Tower.
• Develop backend services, automation scripts and tooling.
• Evaluate emerging AWS services and prototype them to improve capability and time-to-market.
• Guide technical decisions and ensure integration between infra and software development.
• Design and deploy enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines and internal platforms.
• Drive AWS cost optimisation and performance improvements across distributed systems.
• Mentor engineers at all levels and promote operational excellence.
