Job summary

Matchtech Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a Principal AWS Cloud Engineer to define cloud strategy, architect resilient AWS-based solutions, and provide technical direction across engineering teams.

This hands-on leadership role requires deep AWS expertise, experience with Terraform, and a focus on secure, scalable enterprise platforms. Hybrid work with 3 days onsite and eligibility for Security Check clearance are key.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing, implementing and operating AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Expert knowledge of AWS services, including networking, compute, storage, security and governance.
• Strong IaC and configuration management expertise.
• Software engineering background with Python/Go/Java/Node.js.

Responsibilities

• Architect multi-region AWS environments aligned with roadmaps.
• Write and maintain IaC with Terraform; manage AWS Control Tower landing zone.
• Develop backend services and automation scripts.
• Prototype emerging AWS services to enhance capability and time-to-market.
• Guide technical decisions across teams and ensure infra/software integration.
• Design and deploy CI/CD pipelines and internal developer platforms.
• Drive AWS cost optimisation and performance improvements across distributed systems.
• Mentor engineers and promote operational excellence.
