Job summary

Allied World Assurance Company in London seeks an experienced underwriter to lead a diverse book, focusing on profitability and growth for regional/global markets. The role supports the head in strategic budgeting and building a high-performing technical underwriting team.

You will collaborate with actuarial, claims, and brokers, develop pricing models, and mentor junior colleagues while maintaining Lloyd's-related responsibilities and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Graduate-level with ACII or equivalent.
• Engineering degree preferable (civil or mechanical).
• 12+ years underwriting major international construction projects with knowledge of standard market wordings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong marketing and business development capability.
• Proficiency with underwriting systems; knowledge of Genius and Open Box advantageous.
• Fluent in English; other languages beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite a diverse book and meet profitability goals.
• Support regional/global head in budgets and strategic goals.
• Issue quotes and invoices per guidelines.
• Maintain underwriting files and pricing models.
• Develop business in Global Markets and the London Market.
• Liaise with actuarial and claims teams on risk and pricing.
• Mentor junior underwriters and supervise staff.
• Attend Lloyd’s box as required.
