Job summary

Allied World is recruiting an experienced underwriter to oversee a diverse portfolio within Global Markets. You will set terms, analyze pricing, and issue quotes and policies in line with guidelines, while supporting the regional head with budgets and strategy.

Ideal candidates have 12+ years in underwriting major international construction projects, excellent communication, and a collaborative leadership style.

Qualifications

• Graduate-level professional with ACII or equivalent
• 12+ years underwriting major international construction projects
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client/broker liaison
• Strong marketing and business development capability with commercial acumen

Responsibilities

• Underwrite a diverse book of business meeting profitability, GWP and expense targets
• Review submissions, price analyses, and set terms/conditions; issue quotes and invoices
• Mentor junior underwriters and underwriting assistants; guide pricing models
• Contribute to global market development; engage with clients and brokers in London and abroad
• Coordinate with actuarial for pricing benchmarks and premium modelling
• Liaise with claims to monitor market developments affecting profitability
• Maintain orderly underwriting files and ensure compliance with guidelines
