Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford seeks a Senior Automation Laboratory Scientist to help build autonomous labs that integrate biology, robotics and ML. You will drive wet-lab automation, translate scientific aims into robust protocols, and collaborate with engineers and researchers across disciplines.

The role requires hands-on bench work, independent troubleshooting, and a focus on quality and biosafety in a fast-evolving lab environment.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent industry experience required.
• Strong hands-on wet-lab experience and bench-work.
• Proven ability to design, execute and troubleshoot workflows.

Responsibilities

• Execute, optimise and design wet-lab workflows.
• Translate objectives into reproducible automation protocols.
• Read literature and troubleshoot bench protocols.
• Operate and support automation platforms including liquid handlers.
• Lead the design and deployment of a deployable automation platform.
• Collaborate with automation engineers, AI researchers and teams.
• Maintain documentation, quality control and biosafety standards.
