Job summary

GBV Ltd is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to lead the automation strategy, mentor peers and shape testing practices. The role focuses on AI-powered testing, Playwright and TypeScript, and alignment with CI/CD within a remote-first setup with occasional visits to the Cheshire office.

The successful candidate will drive shift-left quality, build scalable automation frameworks and collaborate across product and engineering teams to elevate software quality and delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience leading automation projects across the SDLC.
• Strong knowledge of modern test automation practices.
• Mentoring and coaching engineers on quality engineering.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted testing approaches.

Responsibilities

• Lead and evolve the automation testing strategy.
• Develop frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Champion AI-assisted testing to boost productivity.
• Drive shift-left testing across requirements to production.
• Design and execute automated UI, API and end-to-end tests.
• Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with Engineers, PMs and QA to improve quality.
• Mentor other Automation Engineers and set standards.
• Produce quality metrics and drive continuous improvements.
• Clearly document automation frameworks and best practices.
