This is the job
Join us as a Senior Automation Engineer and take a leading role in shaping the quality of our digital solutions. You'll be embedded in the heart of our agile software development lifecycle, championing automation-first approaches to ensure every release meets the highest standards. Your expertise in Functional and Non-functional testing will be critical in delivering robust, scalable, and high-performing applications. From the outset, you’ll be instrumental in embedding quality into every stage of development, driving continuous improvement and efficiency through automation.
In this hands-on role, you’ll design and implement comprehensive test plans aligned with our AA IT and AA-X Test Strategy. Leveraging modern test automation frameworks and agile testing techniques, you’ll ensure rapid, reliable feedback across the delivery pipeline. Whether it’s building automated regression suites, executing performance tests, or supporting exploratory testing, your work will directly contribute to delivering dependable, cost-effective solutions that our customers can trust.
What will I be doing?
- Reviewing requirements, technical designs, user documentation, and other project materials to ensure quality, providing early feedback through manual static testing.
- Collaborating with product managers to refine requirements and acceptance criteria, embedding quality throughout the development lifecycle
- Designing and maintaining clear, structured test plans and test cases, ensuring comprehensive coverage
- Estimating, prioritising, and managing your workload effectively within the team
- Developing and maintaining automated tests across all levels (unit, integration, smoke, end-to-end) using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Cucumber, JMeter, and more
- Integrating automated tests into CI pipelines to boost delivery speed and confidence
- Working closely with developers to reuse unit tests, stubs, drivers, and other test artefacts
- Executing manual test cases when necessary and log, track, and manage defects using Jira or Azure DevOps
- Mentoring junior team members, contribute to process improvements, and advise on best practices in quality engineering
- Supporting test environment setup and maintenance, and stay current with emerging tools and testing strategies
What do I need?
- Strong proficiency in Java and/or C#, with over 5 years’ experience in Test Automation or a similar role
- Hands-on experience using front-end testing tools such as Selenium
- Skilled in integration testing at both the Contract and API layers
- Proven experience building automation frameworks integrated into CI/CD pipelines, particularly using Microsoft Azure
- Familiar with test and defect management tools such as Jira, Zephyr, or Azure DevOps
- Exposure to Non-Functional Testing, including at least one of: Performance, Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT), Accessibility, or Security Testing
- Experience testing mobile or native applications using tools like Appium
- Comfortable working within Agile environments, contributing throughout the full software development lifecycle
- Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders alike
- Naturally curious, solution-focused, and passionate about DevSecOps principles and continuous learning in emerging technologies
