A leading chemical recycling company is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join their growing team in London. The role involves designing control systems, programming SCADA/DCS software, and mentoring junior engineers. Candidates should have a degree in Control and Automation engineering and relevant industry experience.

Plastic Energy is headquartered in London, with offices in Seville, Singapore and Malaysia. We currently own and operate two chemical recycling plants in Spain, with further construction projects underway in Europe and Asia.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Automation Engineer to work within our growing Automation team. You will be joining our wider C&I team and will be based in our London office.
We’re looking for a candidate with proven experience in an engineering design or commissioning organisation, preferably within the process industry.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Design control hardware system
• Write, commission, and troubleshoot SCADA/DCS software (PCS7, TIA Portal, WinCC) for Plastic Energy's technology and processes
• Ensure Automation team delivers a quality product that meets the User Requirement Specification (URS), Cause & Effect (C&E) and P&ID
• Work closely with engineers of other disciplines and operational sites
• Oversee and develop the technical abilities of junior engineers in the team. You will use your experience to delegate activities based on the individual team member’s knowledge, experience, and ability
• Have the ability to self-motivate and work on your own initiative, as well as support the wider team
The role is extensive and varied, and the above is not intended to provide an exhaustive list of duties.
• Degree in Control and Automation engineering or related engineering discipline
• Proven experience in an engineering design or commissioning organisation, preferably within the process industry
• Familiar with programming DCS/SCADA system and Siemens' PCS7 system
• Knowledge in instrumentations, P&ID, URS (User Requirement Specification), Cause and Effect matrix
• Experience programming and troubleshooting drives (VSD, DOL) and safety PLC systems
