Job summary

Climate17 is recruiting a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) for its power division, overseeing maintenance, repair, installation and commissioning works on HV networks up to 66kV/132kV across the UK.

The role involves hands-on leadership across DNO/IDNO and private networks with responsibility for safety documentation, switching operations and efficient resourcing, plus nationwide travel as required.

Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Previous experience as an HV OHL & UG SAP is essential.
• Experience on HV DNO and private networks is required.

Responsibilities

• Working across DNO, IDNO or private networks, carrying out maintenance and protection works to the customer’s specifications.
• Operational responsibility for all maintenance, repairs, installation and commissioning schemes for clients within a designated area on overhead and underground networks from LV to 33kv level.
• Planning and organising scopes of work on behalf of clients (DNO’s and IDNO’s etc).
• Liaising with clients to ensure shutdown duration and procedures are understood and agreed.
• Issuing of safety documents on DNO and private network EHV and HV OHL & UG networks.
• Switching on DNO and private network HV OHL & UG networks.
• Responsible for the effective resourcing of labour, tools and equipment necessary to complete all assigned works.
• Required to perform standby duties for fault response and emergency situation on a rota basis

Role

Our client is a growing renewable energy and HV Engineering business supporting the delivery of Projects, commissioning and O&M of utility-scale BESS and Solar PV assets across the UK.

Due to an increase in contract awards and significant forward order workload, our client is looking to hire an experienced Senior Authorised Person (SAP) for their power division, with the typical voltage range at 11kV/33kV but may include up to 66kV/132kv.

The SAP will oversee and involve themselves in maintenance, repair, installation and commissioning works with extensive high voltage DNO and IDNO networks as part of a flexible, and exciting business who are on an upward trajectory.

Requirements

• HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
• Previous experience as an HV OHL & UG SAP
• Previous experience on HV DNO and private networks
• Experience of HV project delivery and HV maintenance is essential, protection work would be desirable
• Senior authorisation status up to and including 33kV additional voltages would be beneficial.
• Possess a proven track record operating as an SAP in a hands on capacity from within a recognised utility or HV power contractor, or a client side DNO / IDNO
• You will hold current authorisations within any of the UK’s DNO’s, or have held authorisations within any of the UK’s DNO’s within the last 12 months (LV, 11kv, 33kv) or contracting company’s.
• Possess a thorough understanding of working under a DNO’s control, and experience of switching systems, procedures and processes, including outages
• Full UK driving licence

Location

Yorkshire region + national travel as required.
