Job summary

NG Bailey Group is seeking an HGV Driver in Basingstoke for a permanent role supporting construction and asset replacement across the distribution network, with emphasis on LV & HV switching, isolation, and safety documentation.

You will plan outages, perform dead, isolate and earth HV networks, issue Permits to Work, conduct HV testing, and help maintain safety records while mentoring trainees and coordinating with control centres and site teams.

About the Role

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? As an HGV Driver with us, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our construction and asset replacement projects on the distribution network. Your expertise in LV & HV switching, isolation, and safety documentation will be invaluable!

Your Key Responsibilities

• Plan outages and create switching programmes while collaborating with System Control.
• Make dead, isolate, and earth high voltage electrical networks.
• Facilitate a safe working environment during high voltage operations.
• Issue Safety Documents and Permits to Work for apparatus identification and release.
• Conduct high voltage testing and fault location.
• Reenergise the network upon project completion.
• Ensure compliance with Freedom’s SHE policy and safety instructions on site.
• Implement safety rules, instructions, and procedures from Freedom and our customers.
• Prepare project files in accordance with Freedom policy and CDM Regulations.
• Carry out Risk Assessments at all project stages, ensuring adherence to Freedom standards.
• Maintain all statutory records, certificates, licenses, and notifications.
• Promote a proactive safety culture.
• Oversee work activities to ensure timely and effective completion.
• Accurately complete records such as as-builts and work record sheets.
• Coordinate with employees and control centres for shutdowns and Permits to Work.
• Collaborate with site managers, supervisors, subcontractors, clients, and colleagues for smooth project execution.
• Develop and mentor trainees to foster growth within the team.
