Job Overview

Senior Audiologist/Clinical Scientist - 37.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has become available for a permanent Band 6 Senior Audiologist depending on experience to join our friendly team. The post holder will have the opportunity to train in a specialist area within the department and the opportunity to attend funded CPD.

The post holder will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to our patients within a supportive audiology team. We are looking for an individual with experience in Audiology including working with complex patients or someone that would like to learn a specialism in an encouraging NHS department. Good communication skills are essential, as is leadership and excellent patient care attitude. You will have a MSc in Audiology or equivalent qualifications, and be registered, with the ACHS or HCPC, and have some experience working in the NHS or other Healthcare Organisation.

Advert

The post holder will work autonomously as an Audiological Scientist with adults, children and neonates, within the Audiology team. They will perform a range of specialist clinical activities including diagnostics and rehabilitation and provide an Adult Audiology service at satellite clinics and in patients homes as required.

Essential criteria

  • MSc Audiology or equivalent
  • MSc Hearing therapy or equivalent
  • Professional registration with HCPC as a clinical scientist or RCCP as an Audiologist.

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of further training in a specialist area of Audiology

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • In depth knowledge of current BSA recommendations and protocols.
  • Have the ability to interpret complex test results and write concise reports suitable for both patients and professionals.
  • Familiar with clinical audit and the audit cycle.
  • Ability to perform complex physiological testing
  • Ability to work to required deadlines

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH, Manual Handling, Fire Safety & First Aid
  • British Sign Language
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or similar
  • Special area of interest within Audiology

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Significant experience working within an NHS Audiology Service
  • Significant experience managing patients with complex auditory needs
  • Significant experience in rehabilitation and counselling with adults

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of auditbase
  • Experience of a wide range of Hearing aid technology
  • Knowledge of NHS service provision and pathways
