Job summary – What to expect:

As the Senior Clinical Scientist within our Research and Development team, you will manage post-market clinical research studies for product lifecycle initiatives in the contact lens industry. Specifically, you will:

  • Plan and manage all aspects of clinical evaluation of products, including writing and reviewing protocols and study materials, overseeing study execution, performing or overseeing statistical analysis, and writing and reviewing study reports.
  • Participate in broader product management teams (commercial/marketing, professional affairs, regulatory affairs, quality assurance) under the direction of clinical management.
  • Apply strong research design knowledge, hypothesis testing, and technical communication skills.
  • Stay informed of literature and other knowledge related to contact lenses.
  • Be aware of ethics and regulatory requirements related to medical devices (GCP, IRB/EC, FDA, ISO standards, EU MDD/MDR) and apply them under the direction of clinical management.
  • Utilize learnings from prior experience, current trends in clinical research, and competitor awareness to inform product lifecycle activities.
  • Publish or present findings in scientific forums as appropriate.
  • Travel occasionally to clinical sites, CROs, and meetings as needed.
  • Contribute to CooperVision’s commitment to quality management system development and maintenance, emphasizing compliance with customer and statutory/regulatory requirements.

About you:

We seek someone with attention to detail and meticulous work ethic, with advantageous experience in:

  • Clinical or research degree (Master’s or PhD) in Vision Science, Visual Optics, Physiological Optics, Optometry, or Ophthalmology.
  • Clinical licensure in the UK is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience in optometry/ophthalmology.
  • Understanding of biological and optical factors affecting contact lens safety and performance.
  • Skills in research design, statistical analysis, medical writing, and regulatory knowledge.
  • Experience in the contact lens or medical device industry.
