Job summary

SYSTEMIQ is seeking a Senior Associate to join the Sustainable Finance practice, focusing on public and development finance. You will work with governments and public institutions to strengthen financing strategies and mobilise capital for climate and nature priorities.

In this strategy advisory role, you will lead workstreams, develop client-ready analyses, manage stakeholder relationships and help grow SYSTEMIQ’s sustainable finance work in Kenya and the wider region, blending macro thinking

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in economics, finance, international development, public policy or a related field.
• Typically 4+ years of relevant experience in strategy consulting, development finance or public finance advisory.
• Strong familiarity with the sovereign financing landscape and climate/nature finance instruments.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and research skills with the ability to synthesize complex material.
• Excellent written and verbal English and demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate advisory workstreams on public and development finance for climate and nature outcomes.
• Develop client-ready analyses, strategy decks and briefing packs for governments and DFIs.
• Assess sovereign financing strategies, macroeconomic context and debt dynamics to inform recommendations.
• Design and evaluate financing instruments such as blended finance and sustainability-linked instruments.
• Engage ministries, central banks, multilaterals and donors to drive multi-stakeholder engagements.
• Provide strategic insights to support financing strategies and implementation plans.
• Contribute to proposal development and thought leadership within Sustainable Finance.
• Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
