Job summary

Brandon James is seeking an Associate Quantity Surveyor to join their senior team in Hertfordshire. The role focuses on healthcare refurbishment, upgrade and capital works, offering influence over clients, teams and project strategy.

You will lead on feasibility, cost planning, procurement and final accounts, mentor junior surveyors and develop long‑term client relationships while delivering value across complex projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related discipline.
• MRICS or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong UK PQS/consultancy background.
• Healthcare project experience preferred.
• Ability to lead projects independently.
• Experience with pre- and post-contract cost management.
• Experience preparing cost plans, tender docs, procurement advice.
• Understanding of JCT contracts and UK procurement routes.
• Experience managing valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors.
• Ambitious with long-term progression plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissions from feasibility to final account, with a focus on healthcare projects.
• Provide strategic cost and commercial advice to clients throughout delivery.
• Manage client, consultant and contractor relationships to keep projects financially controlled.
• Support junior colleagues and mentor Quantity Surveyors.
• Lead projects independently and drive procurement and cost planning.
• Maintain long-term relationships across the healthcare sector.
