Role Overview


The logistics and manufacturing industry is a crucial component of the UK economy, playing a vital role in the production and distribution of goods across the country and around the world.

We excel in bespoke fit-outs, large logistic parks, multiple-level indoor farming, vast warehousing packed with automated technology, and temperature-controlled environments.

Our clients receive comprehensive advice through the entire life cycle of their assets; from conceptualisation to realisation, to operation, and eventual disposal. Through our specialists’ expertise and passion for the sector, we can deliver successful results, ensuring our clients’ investments are in safe hands.

We know warehouses are no longer tin sheds – they are often among the world’s most sophisticated and technology-rich assets. We work with our clients to seek alternative materials that work harder and eliminate emissions or consider design solutions that support new processes that boost productivity and drive down risk.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Associate / Partner Cost Manager to lead a team and key projects within the industrial & logistics sector, a buoyant sector for RLB and our numerous clients, and one that is experiencing massive growth. We are therefore looking for future leaders to carry the sector forward, which poses a brilliant opportunity for growth and progression within the business. You will be joining an established and supportive team of cost management professionals in Birmingham, with extensive and diverse experience.

Role Responsibilities
  • Business development and ability to win work with new clients.
  • Grow regional client base.
  • Manage and develop junior team.
  • Report to National Sector lead in promoting new opportunities.
  • Manage high value multi-unit logistics developments.
  • Full commercial responsibility for the project.
  • Management of team members.
  • Direct liaison with clients.
  • Job management / commercial management of RLB fee & delivery.
  • Procurement and tendering advice to clients.
  • Post contract financial management.
  • Promote efficiency, effectiveness and best practice.
  • Participate in the development of Rider Levett Bucknall strategy.
  • Operational management, responsible for ongoing revenue, costs and profit and delivering annual and medium-term business plans.
  • Resource planning - establish and maintaining adequate resources to deliver customer satisfaction profitably.
  • Take responsibility for all aspects of the delivery of projects. Be aware of our technical performance on projects, regularly review projects with staff and customers.
Candidate Profile

Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline.
  • MRICS.
Experience
  • Proven track record in I&L projects, delivering schemes of similar nature from inception to completion.
  • Pre-Construction cost planning and estimating.
  • Experience in site earthworks, utilities, highways, and vertical builds.
  • Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
  • Strong technical delivery experience.
  • Previously employed by a consultancy or end-user client.
  • Stakeholder management with a clear focus on developing client accounts.
