Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to lead pharmacy staff in the goods receipt area and ensure the safe, timely assembly and despatch of pharmaceutical goods.

The role involves receiving, checking and distributing medicines from wholesalers and other hospitals, supervising assistants, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety in dispensing and supply.

Qualifications

• Scottish Vocational Qualification Level II is required or equivalent.
• Able to plan, prioritise and organise workload and work under pressure.
• Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
• Commitment to CPD / Self motivation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the assistant technical officers and assist the Chief Technician with planning and prioritising work within goods receipt area.
• Receive and check all types of pharmaceutical products into the pharmacy department from wholesalers and other hospitals.
• Notify senior technician or pharmacist if there are any incomplete orders delivered.
• Receive prescriptions and orders at pharmacy dispensary from nurses, patients or portering staff.

The Role

The postholder provides patient focused quality service to assure an efficient and timely supply of pharmaceutical products and be the team leader for pharmacy staff working within goods receipt area. The accurate and safe assembly of medicines to be dispensed and to receive, check, package and despatch pharmaceutical goods

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
