Senior Assistant Accountant

Location: Halesowen

Salary: £32,000-£36,000

Type: Full Time/Permanent

We are delighted to be working with our valued client, a well-established and growing organisation, to recruit an experienced Senior Contract Accountant. This is a broad and hands-on role within the core finance team, combining traditional management accounting with commercial finance business partnering. You will play an integral role in driving performance, providing insights, and supporting business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and variance analysis
2. Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles, working closely with department heads
3. Provide meaningful financial insight and reporting to operational teams and senior leadership
4. Support strategic decision-making through financial modelling and scenario planning
5. Collaborate with non-finance stakeholders to influence financial outcomes and ensure budget adherence
6. Drive process improvements and support internal controls
7. Assist with year-end audit and statutory reporting requirements
8. Mentor junior finance staff and support team development where necessary

Skills & Requirements:

• At least 50% through a professional qualification (ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
• Proven experience in a similar management or financial accountant role
• Strong commercial acumen and experience working closely with non-finance teams
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient in Excel and modern finance systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Netsuite)
• Able to hit the ground running and add value quickly in a contract setting
