Job summary

RG Setsquare is seeking a Temporary Area Planning Manager in Shropshire for a 6-month contract, offering up to £500.00 per day via Umbrella and a hybrid work model. The role leads a planning team, manages complex applications, and reports to senior officers and Planning Committee.

The ideal candidate will have extensive Development Management experience, strong knowledge of planning law, and the ability to present informed recommendations.

Qualifications

• Experience in Development Management and leading planning teams.
• Strong knowledge of planning legislation and policy.
• Ability to provide authoritative advice to senior officers, members and applicants.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of professional planning officers.
• Oversee complex and major planning applications.
• Lead on planning committee reports and presentations.
• Provide senior professional planning advice.
• Depose for the Planning & Development Services Manager when required.
• Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure planning decisions are delivered efficiently, consistently and in accordance with legislation and policy.
