Job summary

RG Setsquare is seeking a Temporary Area Planning Manager in Shropshire for a 6-month contract, offering up to £500.00 per day via Umbrella and a hybrid work model. The role leads a planning team, manages complex applications, and reports to senior officers and Planning Committee.

The ideal candidate will have extensive Development Management experience, strong knowledge of planning law, and the ability to present informed recommendations.

Temporary Area Planning Manager

Location: Shropshire | Hours: 37 per week | Contract: 6 months. | Up to £500.00 per day via Umbrella | Hybrid role.

We are currently seeking an experienced Area Planning Manager for a temporary cover assignment within a busy Development Management service within a Local Authority. This is a senior role responsible for leading an area-based planning team, overseeing complex planning applications and providing professional advice to senior officers, Members, applicants and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on planning committee reports and presentations.
• Provide senior professional planning advice.
• Deputise for the Planning & Development Services Manager when required.

About You

You will be an experienced planning professional with strong Development Management and team leadership experience. You will have excellent knowledge of planning legislation and policy, experience dealing with complex applications, and the confidence to provide authoritative advice and present to planning committees.
